As described in the course catalog, this course covers numerical and affine semigroups from geometric, combinatorial, and algebraic viewpoints, lattice point enumeration, generating functions, eventually quasipolynomial functions, and related topics in discrete geometry. We will also discuss computation methods and effective use of software in research.

There will be one homework assignment given each week, usually assigned on Thursday and due in class the following Tuesday. There will also be one preliminary assignment given each week, usually assigned on Tuesday after class and due in class on Thursday.
